We are a newly established lab researching the role of cortex-basal ganglia-thalamus circuit in learning and executing behaviour, and we are seeking a Postdoctoral /visiting scholar Research Scientist to join our first generation of scientists. We combine electrophysiology, imaging, and behavioural training in animal models to investigate fundamental aspects of how brain regions communicate and change with learning to drive movement. The post holder will lead their own project within these themes, including all aspects of research from designing experiments to publishing results.

The postholder will be expected to use specialist scientific equipment in a laboratory environment, and adapt existing and develop new scientific techniques and experimental protocols. You will also collaborate in the preparation of scientific reports and journal articles and occasionally present papers and posters, and manage your own academic research and administrative activities. 

Since our lab is in the foundational stage, we are looking for a postdoc/visiting scholar with directly relevant experience. It is essential that the post holder has experience with animal model behavioural training, stereotaxic surgery, and neuronal recording and analysis. Evidence of research output, usually as a first-author paper, is also essential.

The post is available from 1st October 2023 and will be based in The Department of Physiology Anatomy & Genetics, Sherrington Building, Parks Road, Oxford, OX1 3PT.
