The Royal Danish Consulate in Guangzhou is looking for 1 or 2 full time Visa Officers to join the Consulate's visa team.

Position: VISA officer – Open to non-Schengen citizens

Type of contract: Full time

Starting date: As soon as possible

Location: Royal Danish Consulate General, Guangzhou

The Royal Danish Consulate in Guangzhou is looking for 1 or 2 full time Visa Officers to join the Consulate’s visa team. This is a possibility to work with experienced colleagues in a fast-paced and multicultural environment. 

The Consulate in Guangzhou serves as the Danish Visa Hub for all of China and Japan. We process and issue short-term visas for primarily Chinese citizens who want to go to Denmark, Greenland, and the Faroe Island. 

 

Job description

You will be part of a large team with currently 20 colleagues. 

Main tasks and responsibilities

Case processing of visa applications as well as residence permit applications

Key control functions in the process of issuing visas

Thorough and correct data entry

Interview with applicants/hosts

Show great thoroughness and responsibility in your work

Ensuring compliance with the Schengen visa rules and Danish legislation

Assistance with other visa related or consular related tasks within the team. 

 

About you 

We are looking for a team player who delivers a high level of service, efficiency and attention to detail.

A bachelor’s degree or similar administrative qualifications and/or relevant working experience

 

Experience with public administration

Knowledge of administrative law is an advantage

Good language skills: fluent in Chinese and English. Knowledge of Danish language is an advantage, but not a requirement

Sound judgement abilities

Knowledge of working across cultures

Robustness and ability to handle stressful situations in a competent manner

Emphasis on thoroughness, good judgement and the ability to handle applicants and difficult situations in a service-minded manner.

The Visa Officers will be employed according to regulations for local staff at the Danish Diplomatic Missions in China. Employment is subject to a successful security clearance obtained from relevant Danish authorities.

Documentation for relevant education. 

The application could also include recommendations from previous employers or professors. 

Selected candidates will be invited for an interview and asked to present 2-3 references with contact information. 

Only candidates called for an interview will receive a reply to their application.

Final candidates will have to pass security clearance by the Danish authorities and present a “No criminal record”. Expected starting date is 15 September 2023 or soon thereafter depending on availability and security clearance.
