Student Support Officer
Role Details:
The Student Support Officer will be based in Beijing and will be fully dedicated to representing the university. The ideal candidate is intended to support all areas of Essex’s activity in China, with an external focus on supporting students and other stakeholders through enquiry management and an internal focus on supporting the student recruitment team through timely planning and accurate record-keeping. The position involves frequent, sophisticated interaction with university administration and faculty, and with very limited travel.
Duties of the role
Managing enquiries from, and providing support to, current students, offer holders and potential students (via email, WeChat and on the phone), as well as other key stakeholders such as agents, school counsellors and parents.
Keeping accurate records of enquiries and keeping the university CRM system up to date.
Liaising with relevant UK-based colleagues to ensure information is accurate and up to date.
Identifying common student queries and liaising with colleagues to manage all relevant materials, including presentations, webpages etc. to help address these queries.
Supporting the senior management in China across a range of areas, including meeting agendas/minutes; budget tracking; supporting travel/logistics; and helping to manage inbound travel programmes for senior UK-based staff.
Supporting the delivery of key stakeholder events.
Supporting communications and marketing activity including social media; working with the digital marketing team to develop relevant web content/updates.
Occasionally attending recruitment events.
Background/Skills Requirement
At least 2-3 years of experience in increasingly responsible roles related to education or international education.
Experience representing a known institution will be a plus.
Experience working with international students including through student societies and other organizations that cater to them will be a plus.
Bachelor’s degree with strong academic performance.
Marketing experience would be an advantage.
Strong English fluency. Proficient in business writing.
Study or experience abroad is strongly preferred.
Voluntary or other life experience that demonstrates creativity, hard work, persistence or drive to succeed.

Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
Excellent written, oral and presentation skills

LOCATION
This vacancy will be based with our partner, Grok Global, at their respective cities in China.
